Cafe Portebleue

This is a great restaurant, run by owner Nat and his team, open every day apart from Monday. Nat serves his lunchtime Menu de Jour Tuesday to Friday and then his A la carte menu in the evenings and weekend lunchtimes. It’s a very busy spot in the heart of the village with outdoor seating in the village square and an indoor restaurant, booking is essential.  Open all year around. Closed Mondays.

Jeux du Pots

Once again this is a fabulous owner run restaurant, Florence and Jerome are at the helm with high end classic french cooking, fine service and lovely surroundings. They boast a shady terrace garden by the river and a sumptuously decorated restaurant. The restaurant is run by just the two of them so there service is intimate and the numbers are limited, once again booking is always advised.  Open all year around closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Senechalerie

Outdoor BBQ style offering with a fantastic bar and an elevated position overlooking the village. The restaurant offers a relaxed vibe and great views, the young team are always pleased to welcome you, the restaurant is open in the summer months and often has live music events, we will update the opening times as soon as they are published.

Le Moulin

Situated in the original mill house for the village and directly next to the Charente river the Moulin is in one of the most amazing positions of any restaurant, directly situated on top of the mill race in the centre of the village at the foot of the fairy tale Chateau there couldn’t be a better place for a summers lunch, Also known for some of the best brioche in France. The menu is as you would expect typically French and good, it is a busy spot and for a table with a view by the water once again booking is essential.

The Bistro

This is the bar that every village needs! Owner run by a lovely family, its a bustling spot with tables in the village square and inside seating serving drinks and charcuterie platters, however they have regular visits from fantastic mobile street food pop ups. On market days you can also buy oysters from the sellers and enjoy them at the bars tables with a cold bottle of Muscadet! Perfect. Closed on a Wednesday.

The Wine Bar and Cognac house

Located in a beautiful historic building on the village square. Sebastian welcomes you, and serves a fantastic array of wines, beers and spirits specialising in some of the regions finest cognacs. Sebastian has a few tables in the market square, a lovely shady seating area under his vines and one or two tables inside surrounded by the bottles themselves perfect for trying the Cognacs!

Auberge Le Saint Jean

Located at the top of the village near to the Abbaye, and is situated within a historic building. Great french classics are served, either in side or on the cobbled out door seating area by the church. Lunch and dinner booking is advisable in the summer months.

Auberge De L’Argentor

Taking its name from the history of the Abbaye and the river, this is one of Jasmine and Will’s diamond places to eat! Run by the loveliest couple who completely know their trade, they have all angles covered. Coffee on the terrace in the morning, drinks in the afternoon in the shade but the area that is near perfection is the food, if these guys haven’t got a Michelin star by the end of next year then the inspectors need a talking to. In our opinion it is a jewel of the area, and a must visit for any of our guests! Once again all reservations can be organised via Le Palais just let us know your plans.
